Gardens that give back

When designing gardens in Pittsburgh and its surrounding communities, my focus is always on working with nature, not against it. By combining native Pennsylvania perennials with climate-resilient naturalized species, I create low-maintenance landscapes that thrive in our local soils and changing seasons.

Every planting plan is customized to support the songbirds, monarch butterflies, and native bees that make our region their home.

What clients are saying

"

We are so lucky to have found Pat! She offered a landscape-based solution for our 2-level yard that dramatically cut down on renovation costs, and it happens to be much more beautiful. The plants are interesting and varied. From the initial consultation, in the design process, and pre- and post-installation, she always listened and provided prompt answers to our questions and requests. Highly recommend!!

"

The designs Pat created were absolutely breathtaking. Once the creation we envisioned was completed we were more than pleased. Pat is an expert in her field of botany, explaining in detail how to care for each plant or flower to ensure continuous success. A true angel of nature.

"

Patrizia's design was spectacular! She really knows how to select beautiful, indigenous plants that complement each other — in colors, textures, and the rhythm of changes through the season. We've asked Patrizia to expand her design vision into a new section this year.

FAQ

Common Questions

What are the benefits of choosing a native plant garden design in Pittsburgh?

Native plants are adapted to Western Pennsylvania's climate, clay soils, and seasonal weather. They require less watering, no chemical fertilizers, and provide critical food and shelter for local pollinators like monarch butterflies and bumblebees.

Which areas in the Pittsburgh region do you serve?

I offer garden design consultations throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Area, including Mt. Lebanon, Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze, Sewickley, Fox Chapel, Cranberry Township, Wexford, Peters Township, Murrysville, and any location within a 1-hour driving radius of the city.

What is the difference between garden design and traditional landscaping?

Traditional landscaping often focuses on hard construction (retaining walls, patios, lawns). Garden design focuses on the living elements—curating plant combinations, designing color schemes, and planning seasonal transitions to build a sustainable, lush ecosystem.
